The technical committees, composed of active members (P-MEMBER) and observing members (O-MEMBER) are tasked with examining the compilation of standards that seem necessary and stating them. After the members agree with the subject of the proposed scientific technical documentation (COMMITTEE DRAFT), they are distributed to the members (including Iran) and after making the necessary amendments, come in the form of a DRAFT INTERNATIONAL STANDARD.

The drafts are sent back, after the final amendments and approvals have been made, to the members so that they can become published as international standards. At various stages, meetings are formed on the discussion of the drafts between present members of the ISO Country members and the active members (P-MEMBERS) send their representative/s to these meetings.

What are the Standards of ISO and Quality?

How and with what tool can we guarantee the quality of our products and services, and is there a system for doing this? We all know that the answer to this question lies hidden in quality assurance standards. The international standards organization has defined various standards for responding to this need of companies. The most popular of these standards is ISO 9000, which spans many Iranian organizations and companies. Clearly, ISO standards are different from quality assurance standards. Unfortunately many people and even our corporate executives confuse these two standards for example, they consider the ISO 9000 certificate to show the quality of a product. The difference between these “quality assurance” standards and “product quality” standards is related to our way of seeing quality from the perspective of the entire company and the related product. Product specifications usually state the minimum technical specifications for the quality of the product. But quality assurance standards show the minimum qualitative requirements in all aspects of the company and its processes. For example, the product standard specifies that our product must have the characteristics to be at least acceptable for its strength, durability, dimensions, size, etc. But the quality assurance standard does not specify any specific specifications for the product, but only emphasizes that factors affecting quality must be controlled through various processes, such as production, design, and purchase.
